Just call me BAT Girl!

Some of you have heard the story about the bat we had in the apartment back in the beginning of 2007. Well, guess who came calling again? You should have heard all of the screaming going on! I finally told Jay to calm down and be quiet before the neighbors called the cops! ;) Anyway, I wish I knew where they were coming in from! Today it swooped up from the floor from the direction of my bedroom. So YOU KNOW I can't wait to go to sleep in there! After cowering under the covers for a few seconds that seemed like hours (I'd been vegging in front of the TV under some blankets to keep warm), Jay convinced me he'd NEVER find it if I did not come out and help him look for it. So I did and I immediately saw it up by the living room window. Jay stood guard while I ran into the bathroom to call the police because of the two of us, Jay is the MAN OF THE HOUSE and so it is his responsibility to get rid of rodents! I had VERY high hopes that the police would be over fast, quick and hurry to arrest the darn bat! Anyway, while I was in there I heard thumping and banging coming from the living room. Turns out the bat swooped away from the window and Jay swung at it like he was trying to hit a home run with the broom! He knocked the bat down, amongst several other things, and ran to get some work gloves. He picked the hairy beast up, took it outside and threw it in the dumpster. I just hope it was dead and it is not trying to find its way back into the apartment to get its revenge on us! Jay reminded me that the last time we had a bat in the apartment, the police officer told us that it was more scared of us than we were of it. You know, somehow that helpful piece of information just did not offer me any comfort this time EITHER! Now I'm all paranoid and seeing shadows every where! :( So anyway, I hope everyone else has a good night!

  1. OMG, I would've freaked out!!!! I don't like mice and in my mind, bats are mice with wings. I'm fortunate that I haven't had to deal with them but I'd be screaming my head off!

  2. I can totally relate to your horror of having a bat in the house! We used to live in an old victorian home...which I loved except for the bats we would get several times a year! I shudder at the thought. Hope you find it so you aren't on edge.

  5. While I am sure this was not a fun experience, you had me laughing with your account of things.
You guys are great at batting, I see.
Hope this warmed you up and that you were able to sleep after that. :)

  6. I would've freaked out. I am absolutely terrified of bats. My husband once dragged me into the bat house at the zoo.....and they're just flying around in there. I almost wet myself I was so scared (ok, not really).

  11. Crazy! I hate bats. I remember once during the holidays at my friend's house one flew out of their christmas tree! Her mom had already found one that same morning hanging on clothes in the closet! EWWW! Could you imagine putting on clothes and having a bat hanging on you! OMG, Yuck! Hope you're good now.
