Fitztown Challenge Blog (FCB) is having Challenge #25 - Farm Animal. There's been a change to the rules so I hope you'll pop on over there and check them out. These can be seen here. The rules were relaxed a bit to have more fun! Yay! :)
Here's the card I made for this challenge:
I've used Garden #48 from the Garden Collection. The papers are from a Michael's Recollections paper pad called Farm Fresh. I stamped the sunflower from a Michael's $1 bin stamp. I stamped the image twice and fussy cut these. I scrunched the one I planned to use on top and then layered the two with a different angle so all the petals would show. I then dabbed some brown Liquid Applique (LA) in the center. Did you know if you allow LA to dry before heating, the final look changes? I did not know this. I thought I had my heating element set up to go off at my whim. Turns out when I moved a bookcase in front of the outlet, it pushed the cord out of the socket. Ssooo... while I was moving the heating element to a working outlet, the LA dried a bit. By the time I got around to heating it, it came out VERY different from what it usually looks like. :-\ I ended up having to dab some brown chalk on top to get it to go brown again. It did the trick! :) The sentiment is from Create with TLC. This is my new favorite place to get sentiments. I usually love using sentiments from my Raisin Boat clear stamps. But I've gotten so freaking lazy! I like to blame it on the chemo. :) The chemo sometimes leaves me so tired, I can barely put a card together once I've colored an image. I've been off of it for about two weeks and I'm loving it! So for now, yes, I'm being lazy. :) lol I tied all the layers together with some brown wax cording. I know, I know! I didn't know it was for jewelry making when I found it for a $1! I just had to have it! lol It's worked out great for me! :) I cut the image with a Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circle SM die. I inked the edges with a Michael's pigment ink called Walnut. I should be a walking commercial for Michael's! ;) lol
