CASEing My CASE

Well, if you saw my earlier post, you'll know that I kinda CASEd a card. Well, I found the card... that was actually a TAG... I was thinking I wanted to CASE. haha... not anywhere close really... but when I finished the first card... I so much liked how it looked... I decided to do it again but all in B&W with just a pop of color... so in essence... I CASEd my own CASE... haha... and... I. Love. It! Here, I'll show you my second card:

This is the Country Blessings TAG by Gloria Stengel I was CASEing and I found it at Heart Warming Vintage by Crafty Secrets blog's Inspiration, Information and Linky Party Invite post:

Do you see the resemblance? The roosters are facing in the same direction. haha Earlier, I was almost positive this one didn't have buttons BUT I did remember gingham ribbon and the checkered BG. I have a stamp that would mimic that... ugh... fried chemo brain won't let me think of the words... but I think it's called chicken coop wire fence, maybe? But while making the card... chemo fried brain kicked in and I plumb forgot all about that part of the tag. Anyway... I was inspired by this tag and that's how I came up with my card. :)

This was just for me... no challenges... I doubt anyone will come around to read about it... but if someone does... thanks so much for stopping by my place today!

CASE in Point

I saw something this morning and I thought I'd like to CASE it. I saw it on Pinterest or a newsletter I received in an email. If we were friends on FB you'd know what I meant when I write... it's kinda like those instances when I see something somewhere and it looks EXACTLY like mine but a few things are off. Well... I cannot find the card now but I do remember that it had a rooster and gingham ribbon and a big bow... on the right side... not sure I remember the flower and definitely no buttons... and it was in color... but other than that... my card looks exactly like the one I planned to CASE. lol

Last One... I Think...

Thanks for popping over for a visit. I have something to show you and I have to tell you... I'm pretty gosh darn happy with it! lol

I tend to color my people images with the same colors I learned to color with. The very first Copic markers I purchased were the Copic Markers 6-pc Sketch Set, Skin Tones 1 and Sketching Grays Set. At the time, I didn't really think I would get into coloring with Copic markers but I caved in and thought I'd give it a go... just to see what all the fuss was about. :) They sat on my shelves for about six moths before I finally had the urge to use them. I've always used E11, E00 and R20 for the complexions and N8, N6 and N4 for black hair or E18, E15 and E13 for brown hair. When I purchased more colors, the first I purchased were all the Ciaos in the E range. So for the eyes, I grew comfortable with E29 and E25. I usually have folks tell me that black hair is so uncomfortable to color but like I wrote, these are the first colors I had so it's the most comfortable for me. Any other color combo takes me out of my comfort zone. But last night, I decided to step out of that comfort zone... and I like what I did while in that zone! lol
I've also been struggling with the CAS style. I keep entering CAS challenges and really... I probably have NO business AT ALL doing so... but who's to stop me? Not me! lol But... I think I am rocking that part too! lol I don't know WHY I feel the need to do this! I think it's because I want to be able to say... yes... I. CAN. DO. CAS! :p lol
Anyway, here's my card:

I had a picture of the inside of the card but then I got to thinking... geez... bloggers are not here to see that! lol But here's a picture of all three skin tones and hair colors I experimented with last night... AND... I didn't use digis!

The dresses are paper pieced. Starting at the:

Skintone: E13, E21, E00, E51 and E93 for cheeks and RV29 for lips, N2 and N0 for shading

Eyes: B29, B24, B23 and N2 and N0, B00 for eye shadow and W5 for lashes

Hair: E59, E53, E43 and E41

This was the last one I colored and I got a little too big for my britches and experimented with the N2 and N0 for shading. Yikes! lol

I came up with these combinations from reviewing different pins on Pinterest or reading different blogs and experimenting on scraps of paper since I didn't have all the colors as the pin or the blog I read before I committed to the image. lol I know there's a debate about going from light to dark and dark to light but, again, I learned from dark to light and it's worked best for me.

Are You Ready for Some Football!?!

I made this card to torment a relative of mine who loves to torment me about loving the Dallas Cowboys. I'll tell you... of recent years... I've questioned that love... but to NOT cheer them on would feel so unnatural! I've loved them since the late 70s... and that IS the 1970s... :\ The other day, I told someone about an event that happened in '86 and he ACTUALLY turned to me with a quizzical look on his face and asked, "1986?" :\ Ummmm... yeah... I hadn't been born in 1886... really? Do I look like I was? Geez... anyway... off the subject... to NOT love the Dallas Cowboys would just feel so unnatural and as if I'd cut off a limb. Kinda like giving a child up for adoption... it would be too hard to do and unimaginable! :\

Ssooo... anyway... I colored this image in the DC colors and sent it to a relative of mine with a loving message and I plan to pop on over tomorrow and to pay a surprise visit and see if the card is prominently displayed in the home... hmm, hmmm! Yes, I do! :) lol

Here's my card, by the way before I show you this card, I plan to enter it into a back to school challenge because... football coincides with back to school. Here in Texas, school IS football. OK? Friday nights... at the games... cheering on the players... who are treated as small town celebrities... because... FOOTBALL is KING in TEXAS! Ever seen Friday Night Lights? Well... yup... it's kinda like that... ssooo...

I {heart} Autumn

Have I mentioned that Autumn is my most favorite season? I fell in love with it when I was young living in the super hot state of Texas! lol After moving to Connecticut... it's not ever had any other season even come close to knocking it off its pedestal. 

While living in Connecticut, I discovered all the fun things to do besides just cooler weather Texas had taught me. My love for the season only deepened when we moved to New Hampshire. I. Just. LOVE. Autumn! lol Back then, my adult children were teenagers but still allowed me to drag them around to family outings. I discovered apple picking... hay rides... corn mazes... donuts and apple cider... the love of sweaters... the beautiful rich colors... oranges, golds, reds, browns and greens... long drives just enjoying the scenery... in NH, there were two towns that went all out with what I grew to call Scarecrow City and Pumpkin Town. They were just what the name implies. :)

I've just made an Autumn card that is gonna be my favorite card for this year. I am thinking of framing it and putting it in my kitchen... which by the way... coincidentally... is decorated in Autumn colors! :) First... let me start by showing you this fantastic image I've colored from Anonymous Stamps freebies:

Girly Girl

Isn't Whoopsi Daisy the cutest name for a store? I thought it was too cute first time I saw it. Free Digital Stamps had a link that Whoopsi Daisy had a couple of freebies awhile back and I couldn't make myself stop... I picked them up... THEN... I entered one of their challenges and I read they had freebies in the shop... so I went looking... I found two more! You know what that means? I HAD to use at least one of them! I just think it's courteous like that... pick up a freebie... best use it. Now winning is different... especially if it's through Random.org. That was just a lucky break to get some new digis... but if I pick up a freebie... or two or three... I try to at least use one... as soon as I am able to get around to it. CAS Style

I struggle with that. Clean and simple. Yet... you'll find me entering challenges with cards I think are CAS. I shared with a FB group of friends a card recently AFTER I entered it into a CAS challenge and asked... "Is this CAS?" Their answer was overwhelmingly... no. One of them was nice to point out that it was CAS for me. lol Gee! :) So anyway... this card is NOT CAS. This challenge asked to use embellishments and for once... I really struggled with that! I think it might have been cause of the BG paper... or the sketch... or cause I was working on it at 2 AM. ONE of those reasons... I have no idea which one... lol ;)

Cupcakes!!

Who doesn't love cupcakes?!? You can eat an entire cupcake and not feel guilty about making a pig of yourself... unlike when you eat a huge slice of cake. Who does that anyway? I do! lol

With that said, I think when I'm done here, I'll bake a cake and eat it all by myself! Because I can! My brother has gone to house sit for a sister who will be out of town for an entire week. Son has his sketch club meet with his friends tonight so he won't be home till late. No one but me and a pan of cake! lol To make it all OK... I won't add frosting. ;) lol

In the meantime, here's some cupcakes for anyone who wouldn't dream of eating an entire cake but would wolf down three or four cupcakes...

Been Thinking of You

Feeling a little melancholy and missing my estranged daughter something fierce today. I always seem to gravitate to these types of images when I think of her. Girls with big eyes and long hair. I'll then color the image with my daughter's coloring. 

It would be nice to at least know what I did. I comfort myself with the memory of her, while getting ready for bed, asking me, "Mom, what did Aunt Lilly mean when she said good parents have bad kids and bad parents have good kids all the time?" I answered her truthfully. She was 16 at the time. We kissed and said good night. Then she snuck out her bedroom and didn't come back until the next day late in the afternoon. :\ Made me so sorry to have acted as I did with my mother when I was her age. By comparison... I was tame! lol

"Pig" Me Up!

Here I am with my CT project for Fitztown Challenge #50 - Banners and Pennants. What a fun challenge!
I saw this sentiment with a play on the word 'pig' and I thought about my grand niece who has returned to school with a heavy heart. I've mentioned before she has a strawberry birthmark on her face and is teased relentlessly by bullies. So I think she'd get a kick out of receiving a 'pig' me up card in girly colors. So I went for it! lol I love how it came out! I hope she does, too!
