Slow Folks

Welcome, Bloggers!! This is one of two DT projects for this week's anything goes challenge at Inspiration Destination. We have TWO fun sponsors this week and one of them is Inky Impressions! This is a card I made using one of the adorable images available in the store.
This image reminded me of my dad. Well, technically, my step-dad but he was the only father figure I knew so he is and was my dad to me! My dad was a Southern Baptist minister and preached hell fire, brimstone and damnation every Sunday from the pulpit. lol He and my mom married when I was about ten, I think. When I look at pictures of him before my mother got a hold of him, he was a sight! lol If he'd picked the colors for this outfit, he'd be wearing tan, black and red argyle socks, red, white and blue checkered pants, purple polo shirt and an orange beret! lol I might be exaggerating a little bit... but only a little bit! My mom dressed him to match and almost always in pastels. He looked quite dapper as my 'Golfing PaPaw' turned out:

This is the Life

Hi all! I wasn't sure I'd make it today but here I am with my DT project for this week's Challenge No. 292 at My Time to Craft. It's a sketch! Isn't that awesome!?! lol Most of the work has been done for me! I love it!
I've made this card for a special 'imaginary' friend of mine. I've 'known' her since 2006. She's imaginary because no one has ever seen her... including me! haha No! I've not gone crazy! She's an online friend. I like to call my online friends, 'imaginary friends'. lol I 'met' her in a craft forum when they were all the rage. Now there's FB and that's where we meet.
Anyway, when I saw this image, it made me think of her. She's sssooooo lucky! She lives out in the country. I did for awhile too. But I work and I had to drive into the city and that got old for me quick and fast. We share the love of everything country! lol She's not working so I ssooo envy her life! lol Sinful, I am... but not Yoda! Ha! She's married to a wonderful man, as I said before, she lives out in the country and most of all... she's NOT working! Hallelujah! lol You know what makes her husband wonderful? I'm not the one living with him! Ha! So anyway, here's my little project. I hope you like! I was so pleased with how it came out!

This is the sketch:
Card Recipe:
Image colored with Copic markers and mounted on foam tape
Sentiment is a freebie from Create with TLC
Pattern paper pad is Countryside Villa from The Paper Studio at Hobby Lobby and I distressed the edges. The tear on the right hand side by the sentiment was D - E - L - I - B - E - R - A - T - E! I didn't tear the paper and then try to make it part of the design. I. Did. Not! lol :p
Flower from Michael's bargain bins. It was white and I inked it with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Wild Honey to match the straw and chicks... aren't I clever? lol
Burlap ribbon from Michael's bargain bins
Black card stock from The Paper Studio at Hobby Lobby
Buttons are from my stash
Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black
Card base is black Bazzill textured card stock and measures 6X6 inches

Rocking the House Down!

Hiya folks! :D
I was invited to do a GD spot for Not Just Cards Challenge Blog today. I got to play along with the team using a Faery Ink image! How fun!
I chose this fun image, Soulful Singer
I immediately got the idea this would make a fantastic cover for a CD holder from a paper bag I like to make. NOT my idea... I found the tutorial at Whiff of Joy here. Sandie created it as a photo CD holder. Well, let me tell you, I'm a single gal... Queen of First Dates. Well, I used to be. Then I started gifting tokens to my first dates and I got pretty good about getting a second, maybe even a third date. Until they realized... I wasn't putting out... I'm not that type of girl! I'm a good Christian girl... well... I try to be most times. :) I use to find trinkets that would light up and I'd hand it to them at the end of the date and say "In case I didn't light up your night, here is this." lol I'd always get a reaction. Then... I discovered... music calms the savage beast! lol So after getting to know the gentleman a bit... usually of yesteryear and old school... I'd burn a CD with music we'd talked about or from our 'era'. lol Then I'd hand that to them and say "Here's a little something in case I didn't rock your night." lol Well, I discovered... I WOULD get a second, sometimes third date after that... AND... they DO remember me! I ran into a couple of men... on different occasions... about a year or so ago after our 'third date' and they all said there were songs that always brought me to mind and how no one had ever made him a CD and holder... and he'd think fondly of me. :) Case made! :D
Ssooo anyway... I started by printing the image twice, flipping one of them as I often like to do. As a paper crafter, I often don't remember I can do that with my digi stamps. It takes quite a bit of effort for me to remember! Ha! But it always makes for such a fun, different look!
Be sure to click on the images to get a closer look! There's LOTS of them! :)
For the purpose of showing you what I normally do, I inserted the CD into the pocket created from the paper bag when it was folded in half. Isn't that dandy? Ha!
Normally, in the pocket on the right-hand side, I stick a picture of myself in the buff in that slot... ha! just checking to see if you're still reading... or token of the moment... example, a pocket calendar of the Dallas Cowboy schedule... and the tickets are tucked into the pocket on the left:
But I wanted you to see the sentiment:
This is how it usually looks (there's usually no crease, it's the appearance of shadows from the bad lighting in my home):
I usually hand-write something onto the tickets... something like... good for a bear hug... good for an ice cream treat... something sweet and innocent... like me... along them lines... ;) lol Just checking to see if I still have your attention!
This is where I'd normally stick a picture or memento of the occasion:
Here's a view of the back. No fancy tricks. Just plain card stock to finish it out. :)
Card Recipe:
Stamped images are from two stamps sets, Rock Star and Symphonyfor the Soul at Raisin Boat
Sentiment is from My Favorite Things A La Modes - Rock Star (retired)
Rhinestones and cording from Michael's $1.50 bins
Black and gray card stock from Michael's Recollections line
Fiskars border punch
Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circles SM
Tickets are freebie digital stamps I picked up somewhere over the years and I can no longer remember where! So sorry! :(

Well... now my secret is out... I. Am. NOT. Queen of Bows. :( I struggled with them from the git go and well... if you've been to IDCB you may have read that I fell back in February during an ice storm and my hands have now begun to show signs of arthritis. They spasm and the joints hurt something fierce! I really struggled to tie the bow but I got it done! My momma didn't raise no quitter! :)

I hope you'll pop on over to IDCB where it's always fun and always anything goes! We've got two sponsors this week!
Also, if you're a follower and player at IDCB, you'll know that we've been having issue with our Google Friend Connect. Well, I finally got to the bottom of that... it's gone! Kaput! I had to restart the blog and you must be a follower to claim the prize so be sure to stop by at the new blog, Inspiration Destination Challenge Blog and visit if only just to become a follower. We won't be moving the challenges over until May 27th. One of our DT members is on holiday and I don't want her thinking we've moved without her! lol Also, it'll give me time to explain things at IDCB and give participants a chance to transition to the new URL. The name is the same, the players are the same, the fun is the same... you won't even know we've moved... except for the new URL! :)
Thanks for stopping by my place today!
