Quick Post

Hi all! I've been busy all day preparing for tomorrow's fabulous feast! I've not cooked like this since 2006... I can remember that occasion vividly... it was the last year my 27 year old daughter lived at home. I was such a horrid mom! She couldn't wait to get out of the house and as soon as she turned 18, that's exactly what she did. She still hasn't completely come around... I keep hearing it will happen... I hope all these mothers are right! lol I've always thought she would eventually come around but not until she became a mother herself and she's made it very clear... she has no intention... so until she... I don't know... I guess... matures... I'm still the horrid mother she tolerates.
I didn't think I had the energy for making such a grand meal! lol But on the 14th, we celebrated my brother's 66th birthday. If you're my friend on FB or faithfully read my posts, you'll know that this brother lives with me. He's been hear about a year and a half now... he was diagnosed with Stage IV kidney cancer in May 2013. Since then... it has metastasized into the lungs and liver. He's proving to be the Energizer Bunny! lol We had a really scary turn back in September. Oncologists told us he wouldn't be coming home from the hospital but he did... then... we quietly saw him waste away right before our eyes. He couldn't keep anything down... all he ever said to us was that he wanted this to end... he was in constant pain. But about a month ago... he seemed to just jump up and start feeling better! Not 100% better... he still has some bad days... but he's eating now... he even has made some small repairs to my home. I guess he knows that when he's gone... I'll have no one to help me with my home. But yesterday... he gave me a scare... I guess it was gonna be a bad day and... I've gotten off track! Sorry... I guess I needed to unload those thoughts! :) But anyway, he turned 66 on the 14th and being that we didn't think we'd have him here at this time, we were making a big to do about his birthday... I prepared a feast for us here at home so he wouldn't have to travel out. It was nothing fancy... just meatloaf, roasted vegetables, homemade mashed taters and a store bought birthday cake! lol But I cooked for nine adults! I was tuckered out! This may not seem like much for some folks... but again... if you've kept up with me... you know that I have been living with chronic leukemia since September 2011 and the oral chemo I take every morning tuckers me out to no end! I've had a rough go of it... but again... I don't want to get off track!! lol :)
So anyway... I'm feeling the day in every bone and muscle in my beautiful body but I managed to get it all done. I'm taking a little break to share my make for the November Progressive Challenge on Facebook with Sassy Studio Designs. I barely made it! The cutoff is tomorrow! I foolishly thought I had until the end of the month! I'm so glad I decided to make this quick before I started the cooking. So here it is...

I decided to watch some videos on coloring I'd bought into a few months back. I'm struggling with it! lol But the damage is done and here I am showing it to you.

I got kinda wordy at the beginning there but I don't think most people read my posts, so I think I'd like to enter my card into these challenges, if I may please:
Thanks for stopping by and if you're in the USA, have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
