Steampunk Hat

Inspiration:

I thought I had done a great job of following directions; however, while photographing the hat I realized I forgot to measure the height of the hat going around so the rear is taller. LoL Also, when almost done, I realized that the brim of the hat was much thicker than in her video and I could not figure out what I had done incorrectly, unless it was just using the wrong type of cardboard. I added the ribbon, paint, chain links and beads to overcome the HUGE brim. I just kept adding to it until I forced myself to stop! This project took almost a week and the last three days was trying to fix the brim. At that point, it was do or die! :D She used toilet paper rolls to make the goggles and so did I but I changed the design after viewing one too many photos of what goggles looked like. I did not have black beads for the goggles, but I added some pearls, colored them black with my Copic 110 marker and then rubbed the metallic wax paste to make them look like metal studs. They came out so much better than I expected! Ha!

Happy Birthday!

Well... my son had a birthday today. He had asked for a couple of action figures to add to his collection. I purchased one from his wish list and one of his friends gave him another one. Son was in heaven! He played with the new toys all afternoon and evening and kept sending me pictures of his action figures in various stages of battle.

Here's a fun card I made for him. I put money in it. He still has not opened it. He's been busy!

This is an image from the Avengers digital stamp set from The Octopode Factory on Etsy. I colored the image with Copic markers and Glossy Accents on his drool to make it look more realistic. LoL I hand wrote the sentiment with a Dyvicl white gel pen.

Just a silly card I made for my son that once he gets over the initial excitement of opening his gifts, he will marvel at this card, especially since there is money in the card. He'll be so excited to find $38. One for each year of his life and one to grow on. LoL Did you think I was speaking of a child? What can I tell you? My son has not grown up yet. :D Keeps the both of us young! Here's a peek at one of the battles that occured today. LoL
Just for fun, I would like to participate in this challenge:

Happy New Year!

Started my New Year's cards I am sending to family and friends. I am keeping these CAS since I am struggling to color and stay within the lines. Long story short, did you know that cataracts can afflict young people!?! I thought it was an old person's condition, but, boy howdy! Was I wrong! ;) LoL

I am sharing a couple of cards with some Stamping Bella stamps. This first one is Mochi Party Girl and she is colored with Copic markers and a Dyvicl white gel pen. All enamel dots are from Your Next Stamp. Sentiment is from Colorado Craft Company Anita Jeram Party Time

Second sentiment is also from Colorado Craft Company Aunt Jeram Party Time stamp set.
This is Curvy Girl with a Cocktail and is colored with Copic markers and Stickles glitter glue in Pacific Coast. Sentiment is also from Polka Dot Orchard Cheers to Pour Decisions digital stamp set.
These sentiments are from Colorado Craft Company Anita Jeram Party Time stamp set.
This is a second version of Curvy Girl. She is also colored with Copic markers and Stickles glitter glue in Lavendar and the sentiment is also from Polka Dot Orchard Cheers to Pour Decisions digital stamp set.

Join me in this week's Crafty Catz #618 Anything Goes Challenge with option Last Minute Christmas. This week, our sponsor is Dr. Digi House of Stamps. One lucky winner will get two digital images from the shop! Yay!

There's always someone in my life who is worried about making that list! LoL Pattern paper is from Echo Park A Perfect Christmas. Gold embellishments are from Spellbinders. I used an EK Success corner punch to shape the card. The sentiment on the inside of the card is from Christmas Smiles set at Rubbernecker

Icy Snow Queen

I have written and deleted this post I cannot begin to tell you how many times! I have had this image forever and a day; however, I love the image and color it every winter. I usually color it in the low Ns and Cs, but I decided this year to try something a little different. So I was torn between sharing it and not sharing it. Sharing it because it is new but not sharing it because I have colored it and shared it before many times but with the colors I just mentioned.

Not ever in blues and... WOW... what a differnce colors make! I started with the low Bs and I kinda liked it. This is Icy Snow Queen from Aurora Wings on Etsy. I colored the images with Copic markers and also added some sparkle with Stampendous micro glitter over some Zig 2-Way glue and Liquid Pearls in White Opal, Robin's Egg and PewterThe snow flake die cut is from Paper Smooches and cut out of some scraps of iridescent paper. Beads are from my stash and I mounted all the images onto scraps of shimmering specialty papers from my stash as well.

Skin: E13, E11, E01, E00, R20

Blue: B21, B00, B000, 0

So I upped the numbers a bit to see what would happen. I was completely prepared to toss the thing if I did not like it, but I was surprised to find that I did! I only dabbed the micro glitter on the big gem in the middle of her forehead and stuck with White Opal on the Liquid Pearls for these two.
Blues: B93, B91, B01, B00, B000, 0

So then I went bold! LoL It was really scary for me! Again, I was completely prepared to toss the thing if it did not look like I "Ema-gined" it! LoL It looked so much better!
B99, B97, B95, B93, B91, 0
I loved how this one turned out!

And I added the same unknown sentiment to all three cards:

613 Avenue Create Anything Goes December Challenge

Welcome to December's Anything Goes Challenge with option of Up In the Sky at 613 Avenue Create. You can chose what about the sky you want to share with us: sun, moon, stars, sleighs, angels, clouds, etc. I did consider Superman for a bit! LoL But I saw something that inspired me to CASE it so here I am.

This is Lovely Legs - Bethlehem's Light from Colorado Craft Company. I was browsing the store for some Christmas stamps and I ran across one that the set itself did not draw my attention. It was Sandy Allnock's coloring of the image. I thought it was breathtaking and I wanted to make the very same card for my loved ones' Christmas cards! So I bought the set and then visited Sandy's website to see if she had a tutorial on how she'd colored the image. Alas! I did not find one! I found lots of other nifty tutorials so now I am watching her stuff along with Elaine Hughe's Marker Geek channel on YouTube. Sandy has lots of great free information but she's also got some truly awesome affordable classes, I had to sign up for a couple!! I should have checked first to see if I could find the tutorial for this technique before purchasing the stamp, but, well, the damage is done! Sandy used browns and really dark colors. I am scared of dark colors. LoL And I thought I might could replicate it myself with a blue sky. As I was almost done, I realized why she'd used browns. LoL But, again, the damage had been done! Since finishing this, I have grown to like it and decided to go along with it anyway. I did CASE her card, but since I was unsure of how to color it, it is not as spectacular as hers. I invite you to go check it out so you can see for yourself how breathtaking her card really is! You can see it as a sample image at the Colorado Craft Company store. I linked it above and linked it again just now. I used some blue metallic cardstock from my stash to mount the image onto white cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers and white and gold Dyvicl gel pens.

Sentiment is from the set.

Last Minute Cards! Yikes!

I thought I was all wrapped up with my Christmas and winter solstice cards until I started addressing them and kept coming up short one of each. Took several counts and lists before I finally figured it out. I want to get these in the mail soon so I whipped up a couple of CAS cards and now these are all ready to go out on Monday. I am so happy about that.

It was really hard to color these. I have been struggling with my vision lately. I have had a lot of blurry vision. Last week, I went to the eye doctor and it turns out, I have cataracts! I thought that was an old person's disease! Apparently... it also happens to young people! LoL So, tentatively, I will be having surgery sometime after the new year. Praying and hoping for the best. So this might be the last of the coloring I will be doing in 2022. I cannot say it will be the last that I will create since I have beaucoup of images colored up cause I. Love. To. Color! So we shall see.

This is Mochi Ornament Girl from Stamping Bella and she is colored with Copic markers. Sentiment is Christmas Moments from Whimsy Stamps. I dotted the ornaments with Stickles glitter glue in Sunburst.

Since this may be my very last live post for 2022, I do have a couple more scheduled, but not what I call "live"... LoL... I am going to participate in every single challenge I can find that fit my projects! So for this card, I would like to participate in these challenges:
This little cutie is a digital stamp from From the Heart Stamps and also colored with Copic markers and a Dyvicl white gel pen. Postage stamp is a die cut from Amazon and the snow flake die cut is from Paper Smooches and cut from some Darice glitter paper. Sentiment is cut from Carta Bella Snow Much Fun. And for this little cutie, I would like to participate in these challenges:

Crafty Catz #617 Anything Goes Challenge with Optional Easel Card

This week starts Challenge #617 Anything Goes Challenge with Optional Easel Card at Crafty Catz. Our sponsor is SheepSki Designs with a prize of three images from the shop! Come join us for some crafty fun!

This is Snowman Selfie and the image is colored with Copic markers. I colored one of the caps to look like Santa's suit and another one to look like the equivalent of the ugly Christmas sweater. Ha! For the two Santa hats, I sprinkled Stampendous micro glitter on the fur trim on top of Zig 2-Way glue. I've used several die cuts to create a shaker / twisted easel card. The "selfie' and Polaroid frames die cuts are from the Selfie Die Cut set at Whimsy Stamps. Film strip die cut is from Queen & Company. Camera die cuts are from Amazon. Pattern papers are from Carta Bella Dear Santa. Red and textured white cardstock are from Bazzill. The snow flake die cut is from Paper Smooches and cut from some Darice glitter paper. Sentiments are from Hello Blue Bird Family Photo and Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Christmas Blessings. I splattered some Dr. Ph Martin's Bleed Proof Paint to the front of the card. Clear plastic for the shaker element is from Alpha Stamps and beads are from my stash. I used black chipboard from Graphic 45 to mount the cameras on the interior of the card. I used my handy Scor-Pal to create all the folds.

Copic colors used are:

Black: BV29, BV25, BV23

Whites: T0, C0

Reds: R56, R46, R37 and R29, R27, R24

Winter Wonderland Wishes

I saw this cutie on my Blogger reading list this morning and had to click to find out what it was all about! It's a freebie from Beccy's Place for the December Challenge! I snatched it right up and as soon as I got my work done, I popped into my craftroom and whipped this up. The theme is anything goes with an optional bingo card and I saw a super easy diagonal I just had to play with! Sentiment is from Christmas Sentiments at Doodle Pantry. I used brads purchased at Amazon for his buttons, am using a digital stamp and tied a ribbon across the card to intersect with his scarf. That's the diagonal bingo! LoL The idea of the ribbon looked so much better in my "Ema-gination"; however, I'd already carved out the holes for the ribbon, I had to go along with it! LoL It has since grown on me and now I think I was just too clever to have thought of that!! LoL I actually planned on using some navy tulle ribbon I knew I had but while looking for that, I ran across this awesome Raisin Boat ribbon and it was an EXACT color match! I thought it was great that it worked out like that! LoL

Gray-Scale Image

I have to show y'all this if for no other reason than to tell you how absolutely adorable I find this image! It is Sledding is Fun from Julia Spiri's Etsy shop. This is the first time I noticed her gray-scale images and I just absolutely fell in love with this adorable image. I have had so much fun coloring it! I got a little carried away with that! LoL I colored it with Copic markers and a Dyvicl white gel pen. I flipped the image because I told you I got carried away with coloring this image! So to keep it interesting, I flipped a few of them. I colored one in black and white and it reminded me of those Art, the Clown images but not scary. LoL I colored one in blue and white, one in red and white, one in Christmas colors, one in various shades of blue, even one in yellows! LoL I had to FORCE myself to stop!
